Colin made a good point when I was talking to him about ideas, and he said that there wouldn't be a mixed gender prison. So with this in mind I would change the characters to two homosexual males, and therefore they can share a dream of what they wi…

I would say that the text is still of interest to us today, as it wasn't written that long ago and the themes about how corrupt the American dream is, still have meaning. The way that it questions who the enemy actually is, makes us look closer to h…

I think the different perspective it provides can actually help in our understanding of what the American dream is about, and as Colin said the ways that this dream has changed over time. Also i guess being different had to be another reason, we cou…

I really see what you mean by a film becoming dated. The way you said it really clicked in my mind. Nicely done.

CAT 4 Ideas

I was just making a mess, and seeing where it led me....

I have a couple of ideas about the different aspects of the CAT. About the themes I was thinking about the theme of ‘breaking bad news to a friend, because it will be better if it comes from you’. But I don’t think that this has to involve a death, but it could do. In terms of setting I was thinking of keeping a farm theme, but also it would be effective to not necessarily have this theme. I think instead of doing this I would like a more… Continue

Creative writing inspired by Of Mice and Men’s music Part 2 of 2

This is the last part, I just corrected a few words etc, but other than that it is purely from the music, enjoy.

The sun set over the hills, like a candle burning down to the end of its wick. I lay there in a sense of awe. The trees rustled as the wind gently flowed through the leaves. On the hill you could see the outline of a lone horse rider. He was slowly walking along the ridge line, the orange light from the sun radiated around him. As he came down from the ridge he dismounted and started… Continue

Creative writing inspired by Of Mice and Men’s music Part 1 of 2

Here is just the 1st part of the creative writing we did this afternoon, basically this is inspired by the music with the theme of how George felt at the end. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be him.

Why did I do such a thing? I have been asking myself that question over and over. It doesn’t stop, I fear that it never will. Why did I do such a thing? So simple yet complicated, easy yet difficult. Why did I do such a thing? It has plunged me into a world of despair and loneliness, I feel that… Continue

Mice and Men Blog Post 1

Unit goal 1 is the difference between the movie and the novel, this was is the question that I will explore in this blog post. Well for starters obviously one is a visual and the other is a written text and this brings up many differences between the two. The saying ‘a picture is worth 1000 words’ shows how much information can actually be packed into a movie, although me many not realise it, a movie is giving us a lot more information than a book.

The advantage to books though is that is provi… Continue

CAT Draft, Part C

This scene is quite vital to the plot line as it ‘ends’ Paris as a member of the story. It also shows how much Romeo loves Juliet and will let nothing get in his way.

Act 5, Scene 3

Night time, dark with some moonlight.

Calm music being played.

Low angle shot of the outside of the church where Juliet lays.

Paris and a servant (the page) run up the stairs (at the bottom of the shot) and into the church. The servant is carrying a torch and flowers.

Wide shot of the door openContinue
